In Germany, Joey Goebel is one of the most famous modern American authors. We will discuss cultural differences in publishing industries and life in small-town America. (W/ Lou's!)
In Germany, Joey Goebel is one of the most famous modern American
authors, who "is among the very few young writers of today who will surely
become the classics of tomorrow’s world literature” (the Writers Union of
Romania). He has published 5 books, which have found a wide and devoted
audience in Germany and Austria. He writes about the peculiarities of the
American midwest and manifestations of beauty, loneliness, and poverty in
small-town America. This event will question Goebel about his work, as well
as discuss how literature can bridge cultural gaps. The event will
investigate why Goebel's books resonate with German audiences and will
discuss the differences between German and American literature.
