US Embassy and Consulates in Germany

U.S. Mission Germany offers a range of unpaid internships at its locations in the country, including Berlin (embassy), Munich, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, and Hamburg (consulates). See the website for details. Depending on the length and the nature of the internship, it may be eligible for the Build Your Own Internship funding from Dartmouth. If applying for that funding, consider terms other than the Summer.

 

CEPA: European Policy Analysis

The Center for European Policy Analysis (CEPA) offers unpaid internships designed to provide a variety of professional opportunities and exposure to rising young leaders in the transatlantic space. The program is offered in the Fall, Spring, and Summer both virtually and in person. See the website for details. IAESTE: Exchange of Students for Technical Experience

International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) provides international professional opportunities for students in the technical fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Architecture). Participants complete internships at host institutions ranging from large multinational corporations to university research centers to startups. All IAESTE participants receive a stipend that covers at least the cost of living – housing, transportation and food – in their host city. Housing accommodations and other administrative services, such as assistance with the visa process, are provided by the local IAESTE organization in the respective host country. UAS7: German Universities of Applied Sciences 

A consortium of seven German Universities of Applied Sciences offers short-term study or internships in their fields. The locations are: Berlin, Bremen, Cologne, Hamburg, Munich, Münster or Osnabrück. See the website for details.

 

Studienforum Berlin: Open-field internships

Studienforum Berlin arranges study-related academic internships all year long in a vast variety of public and private institutions and companies in Berlin, Germany. Placements are custom selected and tailored to students' needs, interests, and education. See the website for details and contact information.

 

Steuben-Schurz Society's German-American Internship Program

The Steuben-Schurz-Gesellschaft e.V. is a Hesse-based non-profit that coordinates a German-American Internship Program. Internships cover a broad range of fields (e.g., business, international relations, engineering, PR, media, the natural sciences and the humanities in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors) and usually last 2-3 months. The tasks depend on how advanced the students are in their studies and their language abilities. Eligible candidates must be full-time degree students who have completed at least two years of study with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and some prior work experience. There is no citizenship requirement. Please apply six to eight months prior to the internship's start.

 

Austro-American Scholarship Award Program

The Austro-American Association of Boston awards scholarships of $4000 related to a New England college undergraduate or graduate. The project proposal must be related to Austria. See the website for details.
