The Harris Internship at the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach
Description: This jointly funded internship enables one Dartmouth undergraduate student per academic year to work as an intern for one quarter at the Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach. Depending on their interests and abilities Dartmouth students will be assigned to assist with research in different departments of the archive, e.g., in the archive, publications, or the museum department. If appropriate, they will also have the opportunity to conduct their own research during their internship, e.g., for their honors thesis projects. The intern is expected to work at least 35 hours a week for 8-10 weeks. In the month following completion of the internship, the intern submits a 3-5 page report to the Harris Program describing the kind of work done at the DLA, and how the experience was meaningful. The Harris Program may use the report for advertising and their program reporting.
Financing and Accommodations: The Harris Distinguished Visiting Professorship Program will cover transportation from the US to Marbach, and an internship stipend of $2500 for the quarter. The Deutsches Literaturarchiv Marbach will cover half of the expenses for housing the interns for the duration of their internship at the archive's Collegienhaus.
