Four German Studies Students and Alumni Receive Fulbright Scholarships

The German Studies Department has a long track record of nurturing Fulbright scholars and English Teaching Assistants (ETAs), and this year's cohort is especially numerous and impressive. Two German majors, John Moreland'22 and Sasha Usher'25 have received scholarships to teach English in Germany. German minor Gavin Walsh'24 will be an ETA in Austria (having also received but declined a scholarship from Fulbright Germany), as will Gary Jiang'25. Three out of four recipients of this significant award, which fosters international understanding, studied abroad with one of the Department's programs: Sasha and Gavin on the Berlin FSP, and Gary on the Jewish Studies/German Studies winterim program, Migration & Memory.

Our sincerest congratulations and many thanks to the faculty who've supported the recipients with recommendation letters and mentorship and to the staff of Dartmouth's Fellowship Advising office for their tireless and steadfast commitment to our students.
