November 8, 2024 12:15-1:15 p.m. Haldeman 031. Lunch provided.
Although Black German literature has a long and diverse tradition in Germany, Black writers are often still excluded from literary events and prizes. Since 2022, Sharon Dodua Otoo, novelist and political activist, who won the prestigious Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2016, has curated the Black German-language literature festival "Resonanzen". With the festival, Otoo created a space for an appreciative dialogue about Black German literature and opened doors for other Black authors, artists, literary critics and academics.
Sponsored by the Dean of Arts and Humanities and the Department of German Studies.
