Director and scriptwriter Henk Handloegten discusses international hit series Babylon Berlin

The Department of German Studies hosted director and scriptwriter Henk Handloegten, showrunner of the international hit series Babylon Berlin.  Handloegten visited Professor Denzel's class Beyond Good and Evil and then presented the first episode of the show's fourth season to a large campus audience.  The subsequent Q&A was very lively as the students took a deep dive into the history of the Weimar Republic.  We discussed topics such as the rise of fascism, the avant-garde culture of the 1920s, and the mechanics of creating a multi-season TV series collaboratively.  The visit was realized in coordination with Bowdoin College and Middlebury College and with the generous support of the Harris Program.
