German Studies invites tenure-track Assistant Professor applications

The Department of German Studies at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor, to begin on July 1, 2024. Preferred areas of expertise are Environmental Humanities, Black German Studies, or both.

The Department of German Studies at Dartmouth College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor, to begin on July 1, 2024. Preferred areas of expertise are Environmental Humanities, Black German Studies, or both. Topics of emphasis might include, but are not limited to: Ecocriticism, Migration and Diaspora Studies, Black Ecologies, Anthropocene Studies, Animal Studies, Queer Studies, and/or Posthumanism. In addition to specialized courses in both German and English, the person in this position will teach German language and culture courses on all levels and periodically direct our study-abroad programs in Berlin, including Language Study Abroad programs, our joint German-Engineering "Green City" Foreign Study Program, and our joint German-Jewish Studies "Migration and Memory" Foreign Study Program. Qualified candidates should have fluency in German and English, a Ph.D. in German, German Studies, or a closely related field by the date of their appointment, promise of significant scholarly accomplishment, a strong teaching record, and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching.
