Democracy Will Win

At noon on June 2, in the foyer of Baker Berry Library, Profs. Irmela von der Lühe and Veronika Fuechtner will introduce Baker-Berry Library's current exhibit of Thomas Mann's antifascist activities. A reception will follow.

What is the role of artists and intellectuals in safeguarding democracy? Join the Harris-German Distiguished Visiting Professor, Irmela von der Lühe, and the Chair of Jewish Studies, Veronika Fuechtner, for an introduction to the exhibit "Democracy Will Win," which is currently on view near the circulation desk of Baker-Berry Library. It depicts Nobel laureate Thomas Mann's efforts to combat fascism after finding refuge in the US in 1938 and their continuing relevance today. The presentation will also discuss the role played by Mann's daughter, Erika. A reception will follow in the library's Treasure Room.
