Sharon Dodua Otoo will discuss the Black German literary tradition, her experiences as a Black writer in Germany and the Black literature festival “Resonanzen"
Although Black German literature has a long and diverse tradition in Germany, Black writers are often still excluded from literary events and prizes. Since 2022, Sharon Dodua Otoo, novelist and political activist, who won the prestigious Ingeborg Bachmann Prize in 2016, has curated the Black German-language literature festival "Resonanzen". With the festival, Otoo created a space for an appreciative dialogue about Black German literature and opened doors for other Black authors, artists, literary critics and academics.
Join us for a conversation with Sharon Dodua Otoo about the Black German literary tradition, her experiences as a Black writer in Germany and the Black literature festival “Resonanzen”.
