In connection with the screening of the thriller A Secret Agent on our campus, Gerd Gemünden had a chance to interview the director, whose work has been part of his most recent book project for some years. In the interview, Kleber Mendonça Filho talks about the importance of memory and the archive, particularly in a country like Brazil, where the legacy of the dictatorship is often suppressed. The film is currently up for four Academy Awards, and part of an amazing resurgence in Brazilian cinema, as Gerd explains in his blog post.
