German Studies Partners with International Affairs Magazine for a Student Mentorship

The German Studies department is starting a partnership with the international affairs magazine "Release Peace: The Magazine".

The German Studies department is starting a partnership with the international affairs magazine "Release Peace: The Magazine". The partnership gives our students the fantastic opportunity to become published authors. The topics they write about may be connected to a class they have taken, a study abroad program insight, a personal/professional experience, an intellectual passion, etc. In 2026, three students will get in-depth support from the magazine's editors in developing their piece, drafting it, and sharpening your public-facing writing skills as you finalize it for publication. To be eligible, they must have taken (or be enrolled in) at least one course above German 3 in the German Studies department.

The magazine's concept is to look at background & context regarding history, culture, language, and society at large. Virtually any topic from interdisciplinary German Studies is therefore eligible. Niche topics are very welcome, too. Importantly, the magazine is mostly read by practitioners in the US and Europe, meaning NGOs, think tanks, community leaders, the United Nations, etc. For more information, see Opportunities.
