German Studies Open House

The German Studies Open House is scheduled for Thursday, September 12th, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, in the Common Area of 214 Dartmouth Hall.

This event, part of New Student Orientation, offers an excellent opportunity to connect with the German faculty and learn more about the department, including courses, placement, degree programs, study abroad opportunities, and the Max Kade affinity housing. The 2024-25 Fulbright German Language Teaching Assistant and live-in resident advisor from Austria, Miriam Brauns, will also be present to meet and greet attendees.

Planning for our beginning German language drill sessions for Fall '24 is now also underway.

For the fall term, drill instructor positions are available for German 1 and German 3. The drill workshop series for prospective candidates will be held on the first three days of classes  at 4:30 pm in Zimmerman Lounge, Blunt Alumni Center.

As prospective drill leaders, participants will receive training in the Dartmouth Rassias language drill. Chosen candiates will meet with their language drill group three times a week for nine weeks, work closely with the faculty instructor of the class, receive compensation from the German Studies Program, gain valuable experience for their resumes, practice and improve their German skills, and connect with fellow students.
